Chateau Troplong MondotChateau Troplong Mondot
History
Château Mondot is the second wine of Château Troplong Mondot, a historic estate perched atop one of the highest limestone ridges in Saint-Émilion. The château’s roots date back to the 18th century, but it was the Valette-Pariente family who elevated its reputation in the late 20th century. In 2017, the estate entered a new era under the ownership of French insurance group Scor, appointing Aymeric de Gironde—former director of Château Cos d’Estournel—as CEO.
Wine Style
Château Mondot reflects this evolution. As the second wine of Troplong Mondot, it is crafted from younger vines and earlier-picked fruit. The style is:
-
Merlot-led, with vibrant red and black fruit
-
Silky and polished, with gentle oak influence
-
Medium to full-bodied, but fresher and more accessible in youth compared to the grand vin
